Introduction
What are Load Cells — and Why Proper Mounting Matters
Modern industrial weighing systems rely heavily on sensors called load cells. A load cell is a transducer that converts a mechanical force (like weight) into an electrical signal for measurement. In most industrial scales (platforms, tanks, hoppers, etc.), strain-gauge-based load cells are the standard — they deform slightly under load, the deformation is picked up by strain gauges, and converted into a precise electrical output that corresponds to weight
Living in the industry like livestock farm, construction, chemistry etc business which needs to consume bulk material every day, a reliable silo/tank /hopper weighing system will be one of the priority considering.
You are able to integrate our load cell to existing system or machine. We also provided the solution for installation and mounting to pro-long the life time of our load cell so that your company would not have to worry on the long run process and save money. Our mounting kit can be applied for our entire load cell model.
Why MKX (or Any Proper Mounting Kit) Is Essential — Common Issues Without It
To appreciate the value of Pavone MKX, it helps to understand what can go wrong when load cells aren’t mounted properly:
Without height adjustment and level base, weight may not transfer evenly to the load cell’s sensing element, leading to inaccurate or inconsistent readings.
If the structure shifts laterally (due to external forces such as material dumping, vibration, or thermal stress), the load cell may sense unwanted forces, causing error or potential damage.
In industrial settings where temperature changes occur, structural expansion or contraction can stress the load cell if mounting is rigid — leading to drift or misreadings.
Heavy, off-centre, or dynamic loads (e.g. during loading/unloading) can lead to unwanted tilting or uneven stress distribution if mounting lacks anti-tilt and secure base connection.
Without a well-designed mounting kit, replacing or recalibrating load cells may require disassembling large parts of the weighing structure, causing downtime and risk.
Solution
Precision starts from the foundation. In the world of industrial weighing, everything begins with one essential element:
- The load cell
- But for it to truly perform, mechanical installation makes all the difference. A poorly installed load cell can compromise signal stability, measurement accuracy, and even the lifespan of your system.
That’s why Pavone Sistemi has developed accessories like MKX: - A patented mounting system designed to ensure stable, safe, and accurate weighing — even under critical conditions.
The MKX mounting system:
- Supports both radial and tangential installation
- Offers height adjustment for perfect leveling
- Absorbs lateral forces
- Functions as an anti-tilting solution
- Lifts the structure independently, without the need for a jack
All of this is designed to enhance our wide range of load cells, available in multiple formats, materials, and capacities to suit any industrial application.

Weighing Systems Installation
In this video, Pavone explain the correct installation of a weighing system.
- Correct installation of DDR load cells with Mounting Kit.
- Correct installation of shear beam load cells with Mounting Kit MKX.
- Anti-tilting effect: the anti-tilting system is guaranteed by the lateral bolts and by the high thickness of the stainless plates, which contribute to give strength and longevity to the weighing system.
- Simultaneous connection of load cells via Junction Box.
- TESTER 1008: multifunctional calibrator capable of calibrating weighing instruments and diagnosing any damage in the functioning of the weighing system.
Understanding
When and Where MKX Makes the Biggest Impact — Typical Use Cases
Heavy-duty platform scales
For industrial floor scales or heavy platforms supporting pallets, racks, containers, or machinery. Especially where load may be off-centre, dynamic, or irregular.
Tanks, hoppers, silos, bins
Where tanks are loaded/unloaded, contents shift, and structure may expand/contract; stable, stress-absorbing mounting is critical for accurate weight of contents.
Conveyor or hopper-based weighing systems
Where vibration, movement, or mechanical stress from conveyors may introduce lateral forces.
Harsh or variable environments
Stainless steel MKX kits work well if the environment involves humidity, corrosive materials, wash-down, or outdoor exposure.
